Lockdown Systems
Unfortunately, it’s an increasingly dangerous world out there, and we are having to put more and more measures in place to ensure our children stay safe and secure at school. Modern access control measures should be able to keep out most unauthorised people, but sometimes even more is required.
Of course, the situations that could lead to the need for a lockdown aren’t just those involving intruders – chemical spillages, gas leaks and a dangerous dog on the loose could all mean that a fast response is needed to prevent harm coming to those in your care.
Lockdown systems use pre-recorded messages and other signals to indicate the nature and/or severity of a situation. Each individual signal triggers an appropriate and planned response, which could be anything from sealing access points and removing students to a place of safety to keeping everyone indoors and closing all windows.
At the moment, there is no legal requirement for schools in the UK to have lockdown systems, but it is widely expected that they will become mandatory sooner rather than later.
Here at Scutum South East, we’ve been providing fire safety and security systems for those in the education sector for years. Now, we have developed a range of education facility lockdown systems that can be individually built around the layout and facilities at your particular campus and implemented swiftly and safely should the need arise.
